Accident Medical Expense coverage

When an accident occurs, this plan helps you pay out-of-pocket medical expenses according to your selected benefit level. This type of coverage gives you protection against unforeseen medical costs when you need it most.

Accident Fixed-Benefit coverage

If you have an accident, this type of coverage helps you manage unexpected expenses. You will receive a set cash amount for each covered injury or service needed from the accident — benefits that really add up.

Accident insurance plan details

We want you to understand how each accident plan and benefit level works, so you can make a more informed decision about coverage for yourself and your family. There are differences between the coverage each accident plan provides. Get a quote to learn more about the details of what each plan and benefit level covers.

Accident Medical Expense

This plan will help you pay your out-of-pocket costs up to the benefit amount you select, after you pay a $250 deductible. Coverage is effective 24 hours a day and benefit levels include:
  • $2,500
  • $5,000
  • $7,500
  • $10,000

Accident Fixed-Benefit

This plan pays cash benefits when injuries, medical treatment or death result from an accident. Two base-policy options are available:
  • Off-the-Job Accident Fixed-Benefit, which covers accidents that occur apart from the primary insured’s job
  • 24-Hour Accident Fixed-Benefit, which provides on- and off-the-job accident coverage

  • Accident plan rates are designed to remain stable2 and plans automatically renew each year.3

  • Accident Fixed-Benefit and Accident Medical Expense plans are designed to provide extra benefits in the event of an accident and do not provide comprehensive health (major medical) insurance or satisfy the government's requirements for minimum essential coverage.
  • Rates are subject to change based on your state and rate class. Rate class is determined by factors such as age, benefit level, type of insurance, riders and health characteristics at the time of the application.
  • Coverage is renewable to age 75 provided there is compliance with plan provisions, including dependent eligibility requirements; there has been no discontinuation of the plan or Assurant Health's business operations in this state; and/or you have not moved to a state where this plan is not offered. Assurant Health has the right to change premium rates upon providing appropriate notice.
