Major Medical Insurance Expenses
On Major Medical plans, expenses that you pay above and beyond your monthly premium are referred to as out-of-pocket expenses. With Major Medical plans, you’ll be responsible for out-of-pocket1 expenses before you hit your deductible limit. Depending on your plan design, after you meet your deductible, you may be responsible for any applicable coinsurance or copays, up to a set limit. After this limit is met, you won't be responsible for any costs for covered benefits, up to the plan benefit maximum.
1Out of Pocket: Expenses you pay for health-related services on Major Medical plans, above and beyond your monthly premium. Depending on your health plan, these expenses may include an annual deductible, coinsurance and copayments for doctor visits and prescription drugs.
