Milwaukee, Wis., July 7, 2011—Jennifer Kopps-Wagner, Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Milwaukee-based Assurant Health, recently was named one of the 2011 Women in the Law by the Wisconsin Law Journal.
Kopps-Wagner was one of 26 women selected to receive the award from more than 70 nominations received. Nominees were evaluated for tackling difficult cases, balancing work and family, volunteering their time to mentor others and furthering the role women play in the modern legal community.
Among her many accomplishments, Kopps-Wagner has been instrumental in helping Assurant Health to comply with all provisions of the 2010 health care law. As a member of the company’s Executive Management Committee, she plays a critical role in setting the strategic direction of the business. Colleagues who nominated Kopps-Wagner cited her conscientiousness in bringing all pertinent in-house parties to the table regardless of gender.
Kopps-Wagner received her bachelor’s degree from Alverno College in Milwaukee and her law degree form the University of Wisconsin, Madison. In her spare time, she mentors three female lawyers.
