Assurant Health Wins ClearMark Awards for Clear, Consumer-Friendly Communications
 
 
MILWAUKEE, April 17, 2013Assurant Health, a national provider of major medical, fixed-benefit and supplemental health insurance products, won two ClearMark Awards, which recognize the best in clear communication, from The Center for Plain Language.

Assurant Health was recognized for customized communications introducing consumers to its Assurant Health AccessSM product. Assurant Health’s communication approach uses typography, color and navigational elements to help customers understand their health coverage.

“These awards reinforce our emphasis on continually improving the experiences we provide for consumers,” said Heidi Hanstein, Vice President, Assurant Health Access. “Our goal is to provide our valued customers concise, specific information that helps them easily understand their benefits and get the most out of them.”

It is important consumers clearly comprehend their benefits because that knowledge impacts their health and their budget. The award-winning materials explain Assurant Health Access benefits through simple language, active sentences and short paragraphs using Assurant Health’s signature communication style—personal, considerate and human.

The materials consist of a personalized welcome letter for new customers and a product sheet. The sheet explains how the plan pays and how various benefits work together to provide more value and cost savings for the customer.

The ClearMark Awards are given to the best plain language documents and websites and are judged by a panel of international experts following a strict set of criteria. Past award winners include the March of Dimes and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
