MILWAUKEE, Aug. 19, 2010 - Milwaukee-based individual and small group medical insurance provider, Assurant Health, rolled out a new organizational structure to their employees on Aug. 19, 2010.
The more streamlined organization is designed to help ensure products and services are more closely aligned to enhance customer relationships and efficiency.
The changes announced to Assurant Health employees today will reduce the workforce by approximately 130 jobs in its Milwaukee and Plymouth, Minn. offices as of Oct. 1, 2010.
Employees affected by the restructuring will receive severance based on years of service, outplacement support and certain other benefits.
“While it always is a tough decision to eliminate jobs, the health insurance industry is undergoing unprecedented change that requires our company to adapt and transform,” said Don Hamm, president and chief executive officer. “We are reshaping our organization so that customers in the post-reform marketplace can continue to rely on Assurant Health for access to affordable, quality medical insurance as they have for more than 115-years.”
