Assurant Health Announces Executive Promotions
 
 

Milwaukee, WI, September 10, 2009 -- Milwaukee-based Assurant Health, a leading national provider of Individual Medical, Small Group and Specialty health insurance products, announces two changes to the company’s leadership. Steve Cain was promoted to senior vice president–chief administrative and risk officer, and Jack Rogers was promoted to senior vice president–strategic development and provider management. Both report to President and Chief Executive Officer Don Hamm.

In his new role, Cain will oversee the company’s various administrative touch points, aligning claims, customer service, medical management, underwriting and risk management functions.

Cain joined Assurant Health in 1983, and has held several leadership positions throughout the organization, including underwriting, product P&L, competitive research and actuarial. He has been instrumental in developing many of the company’s signature products and capabilities, including condition-specific deductibles, Express Underwriting and ExpressYES®. Cain earned his bachelor of science degree in actuarial science from the University of Wisconsin. He is an associate of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Rogers’ new role combines his previous capacity as senior vice president– provider management with the strategic development and mergers and acquisitions functions, as well as the mission of examining the future of health care delivery.

Rogers joined Assurant Health in 1996, serving in executive roles in network management. In 2007, he transformed this area into Assurant Health’s provider management function, which executes the company’s network management, national, regional and direct contracting, pharmacy benefit and negotiations activities. Prior to joining Assurant Health, Rogers was director of managed care at Boston Medical Center. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Boston College and masters of business administration from the University of Massachusetts.
